Project Description
The Alat Free Economic Zone (AFEZ) is Azerbaijan’s first dedicated export value-added and manufacturing zone. The government envisions that AFEZ will become the leading regional investment hub in Eurasia. The proposed site spans approximately 8,500,000 m² and is located southwest of Baku, adjacent to the new Baku Port. Garland International, a sister company of SIDC, to develop a master plan for the entire 850-hectare site, as well as to create detailed designs and oversee the construction of site infrastructure for a 54-hectare Phase 1.
SIDC was assigned the economic component, Stage 2 of the project. As part of this stage, SIDC focused on implementation and training. A comprehensive range of services was provided to the authority to ensure its success and efficiency, this included developing a robust legal and regulatory framework, defining governance structures, and providing institutional setup. As well as a strong investment promotion campaign and business support services to help attract investors.
