Project Description
The project involved an economic, organisational and engineering appraisal of the proposed 1,000ha industrial park at Namanve, some 15km east of Kampala. Preliminary designs were also carried out for the site infrastructure. Provision was also made an EPZ and inland port within the estate. Two of the current three Directors of SIDC, Project Director and Industrial Park Planner, Caimin Jones and Team Leader, Tom Kelleher, were primarily responsible for the project. Subsequently, in 2009 Shannon International Development Consultants was appointed to provide technical assistance to the Uganda Investment Authority and to implement an in-depth review of a masterplan together with detailed designs and tender documents prepared by a Spanish consultant.
